Frequently asked questions
Useful answers.
Before the enquiry.
What we consider, the information we need and what to expect from a commercial stock discussion.
The essentials
Stock, assessment and next steps.
Every opportunity is different. These answers cover the usual starting points without replacing a stock-specific review.
What does The Meridian Group do?
We assess and buy suitable commercial quantities of non-food stock directly from businesses, organisations and authorised stockholders. Every opportunity is reviewed individually before any terms are proposed.
What types of stock do you buy?
We consider excess, surplus, end-of-line, discontinued, seasonal and cancelled-order stock, along with selected returns and open-box goods. Our focus is commercially viable non-food inventory.
Who can sell stock to you?
We welcome enquiries from retailers, manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, logistics partners, insolvency professionals and other legitimate stockholders or authorised representatives. Clear ownership or authority to sell is required.
What quantities do you consider?
Our focus is commercial quantities, from meaningful mixed lots and cartons through to pallets and larger holdings. Suitability depends on the product, condition, location and commercial fit—not quantity alone.
What information should I send?
Please include a product list or manifest, quantities, condition, location, timescale, asking price and any important requirements. Photographs, grading or testing information and representative samples may also help.
How quickly will you respond?
We aim to acknowledge clear enquiries promptly. Assessment time depends on the stock, the quality of the information supplied, its condition and whether further checks, samples or an inspection are needed.
Does submitting an enquiry guarantee an offer?
No. An enquiry gives us permission to assess the opportunity but does not create an offer, contract or obligation for either party. If there is a fit, proposed terms will be discussed separately.
How is an offer assessed?
We consider the product, quantity, condition, documentation, location, handling requirements, likely demand and the practical cost of completing the transaction. We also take account of the timescale and any agreed commercial requirements.
Will my enquiry remain confidential?
We treat identities, stock information and commercial discussions with care and do not publicise a client relationship without permission. Raise any specific confidentiality requirements at the beginning so they can be considered and documented where agreed.
Can you arrange collection?
Yes, collection may be arranged where the location, quantity, site access and agreed transaction make it practical. Loading responsibilities, transport costs, timing and risk transfer are confirmed before movement takes place.
Can you consider stock outside the UK?
Yes, suitable international opportunities can be considered case by case. Product compliance, customs, duties, logistics, territorial requirements and the economics of the transaction must all be workable.
Do you buy returns or mixed-condition stock?
We consider selected opportunities where the condition profile can be understood and represented accurately. Manifests, grading information, test results, photographs and sample checks help us assess the work involved.
Can you support recurring stock volumes?
Potentially, yes. If stock becomes available regularly, tell us the categories, typical condition, average volume, frequency, location and any operational requirements so we can assess whether an ongoing arrangement is suitable.
What stock will you not buy?
We will not proceed with counterfeit, prohibited, recalled or unsafe products, or goods where ownership and authority to sell cannot be established. Other exclusions may apply depending on product compliance, condition and operational requirements.
What happens once terms are agreed?
Price, payment, stock description, collection or delivery, responsibilities and relevant conditions are recorded in writing. The handover is then coordinated around those agreed terms.
How does your approach reduce waste?
Where practical, we look for commercially sensible outcomes that keep viable products in use and avoid unnecessary disposal. Efficient movements and the reuse or recycling of suitable packaging may also reduce environmental impact.
